The present study continues the tracking of technology sales EMR started in the 1995-96 school year. By surveying the same national and regional instructional technology resellers on a semi-annual basis [formerly quarterly], a "technology buying index" (TBI) has been established to reliably monitor actual sales performance of technology products, on an ongoing basis, in the K-12 school market.
Based on the panelists' reports, sales volume for software, video, computers, peripherals, and training increased 9.7% as compared to the second half of the prior school year . This significant gain in the second half follows a 2.7% drop in the first half of the school year.
This industry survey report estimates the average change for software, video, Internet, and hardware for 2009-10, and compares those results to the reports of EMR’s panelists in the previous three school years.
