Briefs taken from National Survey of Early Childhood Programs: 2010,
Education Market Research, 2010. Survey of 16,000 educators, conducted
in the spring 2010, including Pre-K through Grade 2 teachers, and Early
Childhood supervisors.
National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) grade by grade
enrollment figures for the school year starting Fall 2009 indicate that
the Early Childhood market of Prekindergarten through second grade
consists of approximately 12.5 million children, up from 11.3 million
eight years ago. EMR’s 2010 survey of this market segment was designed
to ask Early Childhood educators about how they allocate class time, the
kinds of instructional materials they prefer to use, how much they
spend on those materials, which publishers, manufacturers, and suppliers
are providing them with the best products and services, and what types
of new materials they feel they need for the future.
