Angove Calls on Publishers to Focus on Environmental Issues
Larry Angove, president of the Association of Directory Publishers (Traverse City, MI) called on publishers to continue to work toward self-regulation on environment issues as the yellow pages industry, which has made progress with meeting environmental regulations, still faces challenges. “It has gotten better with the opt-out site, but there are still problems on the horizon.” Angove was speaking during his opening remarks at the ADP’s annual convention held in late March in The Woodlands, TX.

The environmental issue, which began in 2007 with proposed opt-out legislation in North Carolina, was partially defused in 2009 with the united work of the Yellow Pages Association (Berkeley Heights, NJ) and the ADP.

Angove called on publishers to get their opt-out information on yellowpagesoptout.com, the joint YPA and ADP site. He said there has been some criticism because many independents have not joined the movement. “We need to be as responsible as possible on joining yellowpagesoptout.com,” he said.
